Flipping Y MIN and Y MAX

From Cartesian Co. Wiki

Oops, it looks like we've mixed up the Y-MIN & Y-MAX limit switches - this may have occurred due to a typo in the original build instructions for the IN section. First we should verify exactly which limit switch is which.

  • Y-MIN - The Y-MIN limit switch should be located in the front right of the printer bolted to IN-02. The Y-MIN limit switch cable comes untwisted and should be long enough to route through the wire channel to the back of the printer to the motherboard (~45cm or 18 inches).
  • Y-MAX - The Y-MAX limit switch should be located in the back left of the printer bolted to YM-14. The Y-MAX limit switch comes twisted by default and is only long enough to route from its position in the back to the motherboard (~20cm or 8 inches).

If you have the Y-MIN and Y-MAX limit switches switched around (haha) don't fret! This page will guide you through swapping them back.

SWAP.jpg
First use your M2 spanner and screwdriver kit to remove the M2 nyloc nuts holding the limit switch in the place of Y-MIN.
SWAP-2.jpg
Slide the bolts out from the limit switch & then remove it from the back.
SWAP-3.jpg
Replace the limit switch with the *actual* Y-MIN limit switch (untwisted 45cm/18 inches long) & slide the M2 bolts part way through to hold it in place.
SWAP-4.jpg
Now you need to hold the M2 nyloc nut in place while you begin threading the M2 bolt. We have found this is easiest with the tweezers from your screwdriver kit. TRY AND BE CAREFUL NOT TO LOSE YOUR M2 NUTS!! After the thread has caught, use your M2 spanner to tighten the nuts again.
SWAP-5.jpg
If you have already assembled the Y-MAX assembly, remove the bolt through the base holding the mount in. BE CAREFUL REMOVING THE ASSEMBLY, the part can be delicate if you don't remove it correctly. Remove it by twisting it as shown until the bottom tooth pops out and then slide the limit switch and nuts out.
SWAP-6.jpg
Remove the M2 nuts with your laser cut spanner and then slide the limit switch off the bolts.
SWAP-7.jpg
Replace the limit switch with the *actual* Y-MAX limit switch (twisted 20cm/8 inches long) and slide it onto the bolts.
SWAP-8.jpg
Tighten the M2 nuts again with your laser cut spanner and insert the assembly again being VERY CAREFUL.

Finally replace the bolt through the base as shown.
