  • Support for the roller has been temporarily removed from the ARC software while we improve it. You can still dry your prints by hand with a paper town as described in the Starter circuit page[[1]].

To ensure that the rollers operate correctly, you will need to perform a simple calibration process. This functionality is built in to the software, and can be accessed via the Servo Calibration item in the Utilities menu.


This will bring up the Servo Calibration Dialog.


The up and down buttons on this dialog will allow you to move the roller carriage.

First, we’ll set the retracted position for the rollers. As soon as the calibration dialog is opened, the firmware is put into a calibration mode, and the servo should move to it’s middle position. From here, use the Up button to move the servo until the position of the rollers looks something like the following image.

Warning: Ensure that you do not strain the servo. Signs of strain include excessive warmth or deflection in the roller assembly, and most commonly a low buzzing noise. Leaving the servo in any of these conditions for a long length of time can damage it.


Once the position of your rollers looks similar to the image, and you have around 2-3 mm of clearance from the substrate, press the ‘Set Retracted Position’ button to save that position.

Next, we need to set the deployed position. As before, use the Down button to move the rollers until they have good contact with the substrate. The rollers are somewhat spongy, and you’ll want them slightly depressed while deployed to ensure they perform their job well. The below image illustrates good contact with the printing substrate.


Press the ‘Set Deployed Position’ button to save this position.

You have now completed the servo calibration process, and your rollers are ready for use.
